Trans Performance Exchange

Trans Performance Exchange : From My Land to Yours was a six month long project between Emma and Indonesian artist, Tamarra. Previously, Tamarra and Emma had collaborated several times - on the Calabai Jangen road trip and film in 2018 and on the We Dig production at Ovalhouse Theatre in 2019.

Filmed between lockdowns, TPE was an exchange of information, knowledge and love between their homes in the UK and Indonesia respectively, supported by British Council Arts, Indonesia through a digital collaboration grant. The project was also a chance for each artist to generate a deep collaboration with local filmmakers - Emma collaborated with Rosie Powell and Tamarra collaborated with Grace Soba.

Emma and Tamarra each created six films “digital postcards” which were exchanged each month between March and July 2021. For accessibility they were released on instagram each month, and can still be viewed at @trans_performance_exchange

More recently, the project has existed as a physical exhibition which has been installed in Indonesia, Germany and the UK. It will be installed throughout November 2025 as part of the Homotopia Festival collaboration with libraries in St Helens.
